The problem with the announcers is that they weren’t at the game.
Just like you, they were watching on TV. They can’t see what’s happening anywhere but where the camera is looking.
I think it would be very difficult to be part of the game in that situation. It may have sounded like work to them. There is no trip to Provo to start “getting the game face on.” No dinner with the announcing team to bond and talk.
