I've been coaching baseball for years. We get up 10-12 runs we stop stealing
bases, we don't play aggressive, but we don't tell the kids to go up there and strike out. It's still on their team to make the outs, not my team. If we score it's because we made the play and they didn't. We just don't try to run it up.

Had this experience this past season. (Just an FYI - I've coached 18u all the way to coach pitch (tball))
I had to bring my 12u team up to play in the 14u league because the Org wanted the kids to play up because they will be in F-league (14u) next year. In short, I made my opinion heard that I didn't want my 12 year olds playing against 15yr olds and was told that's not going to happen. Of course we ended up facing several teams of nearly all 15yr olds (we did go 5-5-1 which is darn good for how young we were). One team had most of the Freshman players from three different High Schools. We lost 21-1, and they were stealing bases etc while they were up 18-1. We were clearly overmatched having kids who just finished 6th grade going against HS Freshman. (I did let them know how embarrassing it was for them to be trash talking and making fun of the young players. My 12yr old son almost caught a rocket at SS it just fell out of his glove, I yelled out, "great Job! Don't get down you almost got it, you almost caught that rocket off the bat of a 15yr old Freshman and your only 12"). We did play some other 15yr old teams that beat us pretty good but they stopped stealing, put in the bottom of the rotation to give them some work, etc. Those teams showed the class expected, but we never complained if they got a hit etc.
