Why they are stripped.
The 3/4" screws are from the manufacturer who built the pre-hung door. It is not the builders fault. Why?
The problem occurs most often when the painter removes the hinges to paint the doors and jambs separately. When the the hinges are replaced the worker uses a cordless drill on too high power and no brake so the screw spins after the threads have gone as deep as they can. Thus there is nothing for the screw to bite into and the hinge slops over time.

Solution for the jamb is at least 1 longer screw per hinge plate so that the screw penetrates and tightens into the stud. The heavier the door the more long screws are needed.
On the door side of hinge plate each stripped screw hole can be filled with a small wooden wedge lightly tapped in with a hammer or screwdriver handle and then the screws replaced. Hollow core doors will not allow for longer screws to attach to anything which is why a plug is needed so the screw can secure tightly into the old screw hole.

Hope that helps.
