We all know Yoeli has a very lanky, big shouldered, big chested upper body — with relatively small, though springing legs. From the belt up he'd fit quite nicely on a pair of typical legs that would get him up to 7'2+. In terms of pure physique he looks like Patrick Ewing to me, only a good 5-6 inches shorter.
Within space --with the rim as his ultimate goal-- we rightly consider Yoeli a very good athlete — very much in the like of Ewing. But when compared with other NBA players with his height — Yoeli would be compared to fast, mobile type wing players & legit hybrids. And he's just not that sort of athlete. Given his build, he was never gonna be that sort of athlete — even if his shooting was at a different level than it's now at. He might have the height & length to be an NBA hybrid, but he's clearly the wrong type of athlete. Where he's at right now, I could see Yoeli making & sticking on an NBA roster if he were a significantly better midrange & FT shooter (3 pt shooting would simply be gravy). But it'd be strictly as a 4. He's incapable of hanging w an NBA 3, & would get hurt pretty badly by some of the League's more mobile & athletic 4s.
