Look at the Wirehaired pointing Griffon. Great all around dog that can do it all and has an amazing temperament
to be a family dog too. And they don't shed much at all.
I love Brittany Spaniels, but they can struggle sometimes with the bigger game.
I love German Shorthair pointers, but they can be way too high energy and don't hunt very closely without a lot of work.
For small game, nothing beats a pointer. Flushing breeds just aren't nearly as good or fun as a pointer.
