If Clemson or Alabama are 11-0 or 12-0, and Oregon or USC are 6-0 or 7-0, how do you compare them. The more games you play, the more opportunities you have to polish your resume, but you also have more opportunities for injuries or losses.
So how do you put an undefeated P12 team in who played 7 games ahead of a team like Cincinnati or BYU who could play 10 or 11 games and be undefeated.
It seems to me that too much emphasis is placed on conference affiliation, reputation, and perception rather than actual performance.
We really need an 8 team playoff: 5 P5 champions get in. Best of the G5 get in. And two other most highly rated teams from all FBS teams.
But some adjustments are needed for 2020. Numbers of games played matter. No way a team should get in playing 4 or 5 fewer games than others who get in.
