I was sitting in the end zone that day in 1984 when Kyle saved a sure touchdown and undefeated season. All the fans were sure that UH was going to score as the ball was so close to the goal line. I will never forget Kyle’s stop on Raphael Cherry. What great anticipation. That was really a good Rainbow’s team and a great victory. I saw a couple of drubbings while I was a professor at BYU-Hawaii as the Cougars came in flat. The rivalry was pretty intense! The Anae family were my neighbors and Kabuku in those days produced some terrific athletes! On many occasions, we would gather in a room at the Laie Hawaii North Stake Center to watch the Cougar’s play!
