These are pretty decent for the Jazz IMO. Here’s why:
Jazz starters didn’t need any tweaking. They were at the top of the league when together on the floor. It was the 2nd units trash defense and inability to score that killed them last year.

Starters (projected)
Conley
Mitchell
Ingles
Bogdonovic
Gobert

Jazz now have 3 legit backups in Clarkson, Royce and Favs. They did not have this depth last year.

Think of a second unit with the Ingles/favors pick and roll along with Jordan Clarkson iso. Conley will get plenty of staggered time with that unit and I believe the Jazz may try udoko at the 5 with Favs at the 4. This, in theory gives you a solid 2nd unit defensively. Alternately they can play small ball with Favs at 5 and Morgan at 4 (or Niang).

The other issue is the Jazz brought in two good players in FA last year that just didn’t seem to really like being Jazzmen (uncle Jeff and Ed Davis). They played nowhere near their historic averages, or ability. Maybe they are shy about an unknown and are looking to roll with guys who are “a Jazz man”. That is Favors to a T. And if it doesn’t work out, Favs for 3 years/30mil isn’t untradeable.

The goal is to stop that second unit bleeding through defense.

Alternately, they may be hedging on Gobert. They will offer him a large contract, but not the max IMO. I don’t see other teams offering the max either.

Now, could they have done better? Sure, but they were probably a few mil short of a decent wing who may have had any interest in Utah.

I give it a B overall. Slight roster improvement YoY.

Oh, one more point, any of those 8 players paired together (provided Favs and Rudy don't share the floor - which will happen 10 min a game at least) is a starting squad.
