My take on the UW BYU kerfuffle...
1. The P12 requirements for OOC games are ridiculous. The fact that games must be P12 home games with P12 officials is bad enough, but the fact that there is no guarantee that a game would even be played makes such an agreement untenable, especially if there are other options for games.

2. If the agreement to move the SDSU game to this weekend was already in place or in the works when the offer came by UW came then BYU couldn't accept the UW game anyway. They just might not yet be in a position to announce the change.

3. It makes perfect sense for BYU to see the first CFP rankings before making any announcements of additional games with the possible exception being the move of the SDSU game.

4. If it's true that Holmoe has several potential opportunities for an additional game or games, without P12-type restrictions, it makes perfect sense to focus on those instead of UW, especially if they are better games (higher in the rankings, from a better conference that the P12, etc.).

5. Those who are denigrating BYU for "being afraid" to play UW don't have all the facts, don't understand all the implications of the P12 restrictions, don't believe that BYU has any other possibilities for additional games, or are simply BYU haters with an axe to grind.

6. I believe there are many things going on right now, most of them outside of the view of fans that will play out over the course of the next couple of days. I believe that BYU fans will be happy with the what happens in terms of additional games. And those who jumped on BYU for trying to avoid a game with might UW will, hopefully, be embarrassed and see the folly of jumping the gun with their comments and not having the patience to let things play out.

Final Comment: For years I have always thought that BYU's ideal home is the P12. They make sense geographically, and BYU has a ton of fans everywhere in the Western US. They've also played many of the P12 teams over the years so there's some familiarity with most of the teams in the conference. But the current P12 leadership coupled with the ridiculous governmental dictates imposed on the conference, and the extreme arrogance of the conference thinking they're "all that" almost make me think that I don't ever want BYU to be member of that conference. At this point Indy is looking pretty good, and if given a choice I think I'd prefer the Big Twelve to the P12.
