It's definitely a niche type of humor.
In a way, but both films did quite well generally speaking.
But success doesn't make everyone like it. I can't stand The Mandalorian. I think it's hot garbage...especially with the amount of money they're throwing at it. If it didn't have the Star Wars brand on it, it'd be SyFy or CW type of show...yet most seem to love it and praise it.
