They powers that be have already made a concession that the highest ranked G5 team will get a NY6 bowl berth. The fact that BYU was so highly ranked made them a threat to take another berth, and the money, that they feel rightfully belongs to a P5 team.

Message to BYU. Either join a conference that has access to the NY6 crumb we've already allocated to the G5s or at least play and beat a P5 team.

Of course BYU had a bunch of P5s on the schedule and the P5 conferences cancelled all of those games because of Covid. Not BYU's fault in the least. They scrambled to schedule who they could. This whole thing is so ridiculous. Why can't college FB get their act together and figure our a way to have an actual playoff with legitimate access to all deserving teams and conferences. The reality is that it would generate a LOT more money that the current "playoff," and most of that would go to the P5 conferences. What are they afraid of?
