The precedent with teams in our position (#8 in coaches and AP) is to reward undefeated records, despite their strength, giving huge margin of victories the benefit of the doubt. I've never seen a school dominating a weak schedule slapped so hard backwards in rankings in my life. It's always small adjustments forwards and backwards.
This was an entire recalibration completely at odds with the coaches and AP polls unlike anything we've seen.
ESPN.com was literally, and is still, leading their main homepage with 2 BYU stories because of how unexpected this was.
