All the while UW was talking to us they were getting ready for Utah. It was known to all that under the course UW was proposing they would end up playing the Utes. That’s likely why Holmoe asked for a guarantee—because they knew without one they would get no game. We did the best we could to get that game and it wasn’t enough.

As for CU, that was never going to happen. Since going independent BYU has scheduled a series against every PAC 12 team but one: Colorado. Why that is, anyone can guess. (I wonder if it is some form of solidarity with CSU, an obvious former MWC opponent that also has not scheduled us.) But they have never had interest in scheduling us. They reached out to SDSU instead—which is almost certainly why SDSU didn’t move up their game with BYU as discussed earlier this week.

The lousy scheduling situation sucks but we didn’t blunder our way into it. Hopefully we fare better in the next few weeks.
