I know the big dental corporations have goals to get dentistry more incorporated
With medicine (most private practice dentists love the separation between medicine and dentistry and do not want to be included in that umbrella).
I learned this when I overhead the Ceo of Pacific Dental services (non dentist, Steve Thorne, 700-1000? locations) say they were doing all kinda of things to push the connection between the mouth and the rest of the body 4 years ago.

That’s not to say there aren’t some solid studies that show a correlation between gum disease and overall health (the mouth is part of the body so that’s no surprise), I don’t like dentists or especially powerful dental corporations who overly dwell on those studies for their own profit.
