BYU, on the other hand, has had a lot of cross pollination to get feedback on how good they comparatively are. Because BYU has an independent, patchwork schedule, the computers have way more info on the Cougars' relative strength than any other team. And the conferences that isolate have none except for last year's data, which makes the output garbage.
I really think the PAC 12 is one of the weakest FBS conferences. You may disagree, but when they "keep it in the family" like that, there is no way to tell. The conspiracy theorist in me wants to think they put out a bad faith policy to look like they're willing to play outside the conference while knowing they suck and while fearing they'll be exposed.
Really their canceled games should go down as forfeits.
