It's about the haves keeping away from the have nots. The entire system is set up to keep all the power where it's always been. When you had some up and comers start to disrupt the hierarchy, they created a new system under the guise that it would create more opportunity. G5s, we'll give you an automatic NY6 tie in to throw you a bone. You'll never crack the top 4 and we'll give you an opponent in an NY6 that everyone expects you to beat. If you do, nobody cares. If you don't, you didn't belong.

One of the largest revenue generating sports on the planet can't figure out a playoff system that allows equal opportunity to its best teams. Why? Because nobody wants any other hands in the pot. Was the old system flawed? Sure. But at least you took biased decisions out of the hands of the corrupt good old boys club.

Any rational person would reward BYU for doing what they were able to do this year. For putting together a schedule and deciding to play football when everyone was still trying to show how smart they were. For blowing off the doors of nearly everyone they've played while a conference that has 3 teams in the top 15 struggled (even losing) against other Sun Belt teams in the only OOC games they played.

The sad realization I've come to in this fiasco is that an Independent BYU will never have a shot. It doesn't matter how good the schedule is. BYU proving that it can survive and thrive as an independent terrifies the club and they'll use every opportunity to slight them. You'll never have more evidence of that than this year, when the public, media, and data all show that BYU belongs amongst the elite, but 13 guys in a room think they're smarter than everyone else. Unless it has nothing to do with being smart...
