They should have asked, "how would BYU have done against Indiana's schedule..."
Miami's schedule, Clemson's schedule, Cincy's schedule.... IF they did, they'd see that BYU would be as good or better in most cases. Just saying.
Unfortunately, the committee is there for pick the top 4 teams and then make sure money gets back to the p5s.
