but if your room is all hard wall and floor with nothing to dampen the echo, then it's probably still going to echo. The one thing that may make it a little better is that most tv speakers are either aimed down or back which means you only ever get reflected sound in the first place. But soundbar speakers point straight at you.

Either way, yes get a sound bar. But don't expect it to solve everything.
