networks writing are cliche laden, use all the worn out emotional manipulation tricks & lacks the authenticity the good series on cable networks have. And a sense the writers seriously know what they’re writing. I dunno if it’s research or experience or what. Like the writer for The Wire, David Simon was a crime beat writer for newspaper in either Detroit or Baltimore iirc. His work on Homicide: Life on the street is excellent too. Majorly underrated series, a lot of actors broke out from that show.
I have a buddy who was a writer on Sons of Anarchy, he said creator and head writer Kurt Sutter full time, hung out with, rode and lived w 1%er bikers and went as deep as an undercover would. Sutter also wrote, produced , directed on the Shield too. Another excellent series. Who woulda thunk the “Commish” could transform into such a terrifying doity cop. Walton Goggins is excellent in the Shield and Justified. Talented dude.If you want an excellent cop show, “Prime Suspect“ from England, Helen Mirren, excellent show. Mi-5 CRON is also great.
