have almost nothing in common. Nirvana has much more in common with Mudhoney, or Dinosaur Jr.
In my mind, the grunge “sound” is thick distortion, sitting somewhere in between punk and metal, but with strong pop sensibility. Pearl Jam isn’t it. They’re just from Seattle and wore flannel.
Is grunge more of a fashion and culture trend than an actual musical trend?
