In this case he used a third party encrypted drive called IronKey to hold
his cyphers for his bitcoin wallet. It's a secure USB drive valuable digital information and no, IronKey doesn't allow a pwd reset. Most services/devices like this warn you to keep your password secured and safe because they won't unlock your encrypted device without it (most don't even have the ability to unlock the device - and that's part of the security)
