If you can't afford private health care, then the good easily outweighs the bad. If you can afford it, then the bad outweighs the good.
I've got a relative in Canada who had been on a waiting list for hip replacement around 18 months - in pain and barely able to walk that entire time. They told him he was about 6 months out when COVID hit. Then they told him that the wait list was paused and they didn't know when they'd get to him.
He ended up going to Bulgaria, I think, and paying to have the surgery done. Crazy.
