What you ought to do (and for reference i own a pest control company) is try to Establish how they are accessing the area. Try to locate trails of droppings or other signs of mouse activity to plot how they are traveling through your home. The routes they are taking may be unorthodox, so search around everything. It is most common that mice are accessing the home from the garage. Even if the area you see the mouse or their activity is on the opposite side of the house, it is still the most likely scenario.

Once you have a more complete picture of their travel, place the bait stations along what appear to be the most heavily traveled areas.
