Granted, he was out in no-man's-land in NMJC — but you'd think at least UNM would have taken notice & offered.
He's not just another long, athletic African player. He's more agile --& has a better feel for the game-- than most that you see. He's also really strong for a wing, in both the upper & lower body. I had assumed Pope picked him us just to fill the "athletic" need — but I think it's becoming clear that Pope either got very lucky, or knew he landed into something very special down there. He very well could end up being a Ziggy level player for our bball team (not that I think it would translate to a top-5 pick, mind you — but perhaps give us a guy that allows us to throw down w an ACC or Big12 juggernaut in the next couple years).
As for Lohner, even with all the attention he got — he was a pretty under-valued recruit as well, in my estimation.
