The Nuggets have a Superstar and another guy who can take over in
the playoffs.
The Jazz don't.
The whole defense wins championships mantra doesn't work in the NBA. You need to be able to play defense but you need stars who can create offense.
I will also say right now the Nuggets are not good. Definitely not a contender. But if they figure some things out they have 2 guys who can create their own shot and carry the load in the playoffs.
The Jazz have one. Which is why they have struggled in the playoffs the last few years.
