That would make sense logically but most people have a very emotional
attachment to their limbs, even when they don’t work well.
I did have a patient who had a foot that was infected. The doctor was explaining all that they could try to do to save it, and that he was most likely going to lose it eventually. The patient said, well then let’s just cut it off now. Why go through all that other stuff?
