He complained for he next forty years that he wished he would have done a better job of it and cut the whole hand off because it just got in the way.

Then when he was 85 he accidentally cut his right arm off just below the elbow with a Skilsaw while working on the farm. He calmly got down off the ladder, drove himself to the hospital and walked into the ER. When they asked him why he was able to stay so calm he said “I’ve been trying to get rid of that thing for forty years, today is a great day”.
