I also get choked up when, just before, he asks about heaven, and after being told "it's the place where dreams come
true," Ray looks back at his home and family, then looks back and confidently says, "Yeah, I it's heaven," especially after saying throughout the movie, "No, it's Iowa." I just love that realization, and it's also the name of that music track from the score, "The Place Where Dreams Come True." This is the part that usually starts me crying, or gets me close to crying, and then by the time he says the line you quoted in the OP, the tears are just flowing. I am not looking forward to the first time I watch this after my dad passes...I'm sure I'll be a wreck. Just love that whole scene so much.
