referral. I've had one from the guy she referred me to already; I liked his work
My very first root canal was done by a dentist (not the one I go to now). It was interminable. I swear it took 3 hours.
My second, I went to a specialist. I was in and out in under an hour, I think. Ever since then, I've only gone to specialists for root canals.
