One of the things that sets the great composers apart (in my opinion) is that not only do they create pieces with complicated harmonies and moving parts, but they also compose memorable melodies. Melodies are just the one-note-at-a-time element that we hum or sing to ourselves. It is simple, but so important to making a great song.

I don't know if this song is the most beautiful, period, but it has perhaps the best all-time melody.
