fact try to argue above that directions change. They don’t. The earth is spherical. We turned that shpere into grids to create directions. Semisopochnoi is the easterly most point in the US. It always is. It’s not debatable. Just like the South Pole is always the most southern point on earth. Attu Island, Alaska is actually further away from Anchorage, Alaska, or say Los Angeles, than Semisopochnoi, but is not the most easterly point in the US. Again, you’re looking at relative orientation to an individuals or things location, but the reason those relative orientations work in the first place is because of lat/long of the entire earth. You have to start there before you even get directions in the first place. The system wouldn’t work with what you’re suggesting.
And calling the east coast of the contiguous US the east coast is cultural. The “west coast” is no where near the most westerly coasts in the US (Hawaii, Alaska), I’m not even sure why you’d try to use that as a supporting argument. Puerto Rico is further east then most of the “east coast.”
