I think that is a challenge for a show that is primarily built around one specific theme.
Seinfeld was a show about nothing, but because it was a show about nothing, it was capable of being a show about everything.
For me, I think the first season was a little on the slow side, the second and third seasons picked up because I started identifying with and cheering for the characters, and after that it's slowly started to wane as I felt I'd been there, done that.
I finished the last season almost out of a sense of obligation, but by that point for me it had really started to wear a little thin.
This discussion has been on the board before, and many people enjoyed it all the way through. So that's just my particular perspective.
I would at least stick around through season 2 to see if it grows on you. It very well may. A lot of really good comedies are a slow burn. Parks and Rec really didn't hit its stride until about halfway through season 2, and then it was excellent.
I wouldn't put Schitt's creek in that class, but there are some good laugh out loud moments.
