and companies shorted to the extreme tend to have their stocks plummet. IE. the market sees the company being bet or shorted against. As an example GME would have tanked due to all the big guys shorting it BUT the opposite has happened because of the opposing buying power.

I am very much ignorant of such but short selling en masse does tend to devalue a company's stock.
