He is most likely getting a free or substantially discounted lease on the car for a year, or something along those lines, so it's not like he went out and dropped 6-figures on a new luxury sports car. The price that he has to pay for a deal like this is social media coverage and call-outs. He's going to be a high draft pick that gets a lot of publicity, and this is an easy way to drive some brand heat. Why else would he thank Maserati? I don't know anybody who buys a new car and then thanks the manufacturer for the privilege of purchasing that new car.
