(In Russia.) The deal: attend BYU-H. For every year they returned back to Russia, the Church would knock off a quarter of the tuition they owed, meaning 4 years back in Russia after graduation = free degree. Instead, they all got jobs in Hawaii, paid their own tuition, got married and whatnot, and never went back. Great for them, obviously, but it kinda screwed the branch over for a few years.
