I've been over it with several tax advisors to try and find a loophole, but no dice. Basically, because a T32 can cover a student or post-doc, it is all viewed as "scholarship". Totally lame, where I'm basically doing the same project.

I had to pay estimated taxes quarterly, otherwise I would have really been screwed.

But Hey! It freed up money on the lab RO1 so that my boss could bring a second post-doc over from her old institution in England. The one who will replace me on this project in October. (eyeroll)
