BYU has generally only lost when it got off to a miserably slow shooting start. In two games against the Bulldogs, BYU came out shooting too quickly, missing and then falling behind by double digits in the first 3-5 minutes of a 40 minute contest. During the next 35 minutes if played Gonzaga dead even or even a little better than even. The same could be said for other losses except perhaps USC. The point is, BYU's slow starts are not indicative of the way the team is capable of playing for a full 40 against some of the best teams in the country. Gonzaga has had no closer scoring victory than against BYU. I think BYU can defeat Gonzaga, because in 80 minutes of play, BYU has been as good or better than the Zags for about 70 of those minutes. The problem for BYU is the start. To many bad missed open shots, too many turnovers, poor ball handling and passing errors in the first few minutes. Fix that, BYU can be competitive with anyone.
