Bora Bora is amazing, but expensive. Even the flight from PPT to Bora Bora is not cheap. It's a short flight on an island hopper plane, but still is several hundred per person. Also most hotels only offer a boat pick up from the airport for $50-75 per head.

Excursions are great but cost more there than other parts of Tahiti. I'd go to Bora Bora with a significant other for sure if you're looking for alone time. But with a family go only if you've got a great deal or lots of disposable income. Also if you have a drone bring it. I got some amazing shots in Tahiti with my drone.
