A few years ago, the P5s adopted measures that would pay health insurance premiums, for up to 7 years after college, if the athlete did not have comparable health insurance to the one he/she had in college. Two years ago, they added medical treatment, for up to 2 years after college, to cover any injury that occurred while playing a scholarship sport.
Those two measures added a combined $1M in annual expense. The G5s will be hard pressed to find that additional money; they are already tapping the donor/alumni just to stay where they are.
