It didn’t really make sense that you could travel through a black hole and not be crushed to death, but I liked the way it made sense for Nero and later Spock to travel back 178 years.

It also assumes that their actions would not have any effect on Nero or his crew or their technology when they attacked all of the federation ships, kind of like a multiverse theory, as to not create a time paradox.
