I teach my sales team to think “outside in” which basically means
Asking questions to the customer and finding out about their needs, desires, processes etc. Then after getting to know them and their business you can cater your sales approach to their needs.

Too often sales people go in thinking what’s in it for them instead of helping their customers discover solutions to their challenges.
