Thanks to Pepperdine's complete choke job to end the season (losses to Santa Clara, St Mary's & LMU), St Mary's is in position to become the #3 team. They may be ranked at #3 this morning when the new rankings are released. I would guess that will almost certainly put St Mary's at the #3 spot regardless of what happens with Pepperdine game against USD.

At this point it seems BYU will need to beat the Gaels tomorrow or will have to beat them on semi-final Monday to earn the re-match with the Zags.

It will also be interesting to see where Loyola Marymount is at today as well. They were in 4th place the other day but I'm beating their win over Pepperdine isn't as impressive as wins over Pepperdine & Pacific. LMU plays the Zags on Saturday so they will almost certainly get a quality loss. If they are close, a quality loss to the Zags could trump a quality loss to BYU. I'd love to see a scenario where LMU jumps to #3 but that may require them beating the Zags.
