My current company uses any and all excuses to drink. I definitely stand out as a non-drinker. We regularly had (before COVID) social get togethers DURING the workday where beer was provided on-premises. Our holiday parties used to be open bar (they now issue drink tickets), and people tended to get hammered. My company was banned from holding functions at Downtown Disney (at Disneyland) for several years because of a wild holiday party that was held at the Mexican restaurant. One of our guys jumped over the bar and drank an $800 bottle of Tequila before he could be stopped, and on that same night, he punched a full length mirror in the bathroom and shattered it.

A few years ago, I worked with a high-functioning alcoholic. I would occasionally smell it on his breath when we were having a close conversation. He was honestly a good guy, was always competent, and I never saw him impaired, but showed all of the classic signs of a drinker. He would never go out to lunch with us, and would instead disappear for an hour every day. One day I figured it out when I saw him strolling out of a Bev Mo (liquor store chain in California) carrying a small bag during lunch hour. He must have been just drinking enough to maintain, but not enough to be impaired.
