A few people had dogs that were very quiet and just chilled out under the desk, and I had no issues with that. Most brought dogs that turned into a major distraction for the owner and everybody that sat near them (barking, running away, everybody stops to admire/pet dog, etc.) I feel pretty strongly that dogs decrease rather than increase productivity at work.
