Strength of schedule in ever sport is a misnomer
You play three bad teams and three great teams versus another team playing six mediocre teams and your sos is the same. But who really played the stronger schedule? The first.

That’s Gonzaga. They have beaten several teams expected to receive top three seeds. Does that sound like a team with a weak SOS.

It’s overrated in all sports. BYUs football sos is always hit hard with two or three horrendous opponents but those can only be two or three victories. The other opponents are typically good teams but the sos is dragged down versus the old days of playing lots of mediocre teams. So the sos of BYU in the mwc and now as Indy looks about the same but I think in reality the schedules are much tougher now

I look at it like this in comparing sos. Which schedules are more likely to produce more losses? Gonzaga had a lot of potential losses on their schedule. Similarly, I think BYUs Indy football teams have been as good as those that won the mwc yet they have had more losses with an Indy schedule because they play more teams that have a good chance of beating them regardless of similar sos between the mwc and Indy
