Fair enough. But my point is that many of these players already are committed
and have been since they were 13 or 14 years old. The vast majority of them are working through the summer like crazy. I caught up with several guys from this group of players the summer after my mission for a 4th of July thing (they guys there all had at least a season under their belts at that point) - all of them showed up in workout gear, skipped the junk food, etc. Even on the 4th, they were working out and watching what they ate.

Every offseason some lineman will make minor headlines because he showed up 20 lbs overweight; some LB will be at risk of losing his spot and moving to SS because he didn't show up for lifts and isn't in playing shape... but they're the exception to the rule. Pretty much everyone else (at least in my experience) never really has an offseason.
