I'd think that Saunders would prefer that we return our scoring leader
from our NCAA-berth team. Our best AND our most proficient scorer.
It also relieves some leadership pressure that would naturally be on him as a brand new PG with very little depth at that position.
Besides, Pope can in all honesty sell AB to Mike — as a teammate he probably doesn't want to miss out on.
