I think it's definitely most applicable to cool season grasses.
Some of principles are the same, but timing will be different.
If you don't have cool season grass, I would look at finding a warm season guide. Lawn Care Nut is probably what I would be looking at for warm season. He has a guide that costs a few bucks.
