IMO, JG was at his peak during his first eight books or so.
A Painted House was really good. Most of his latest books are just not to the same level. Camino Island was okay. Pretty much a romance novel about a mousey bookworm who looks smokin' hot in a bikini (LEGS! The JG special) and has a fling with an older man. At least it wasn't preachy. I really liked the first 98% of The Associate. But the ending was a complete copout in my opinion.

When JG gets on his capital punishment soapbox, watch out. He is enough to make even a supporter of abolishing the death penalty gag.
