The leadership is a joke there at UofA according to many. (and I live in Arizona so I hear about it a lot)

Keep in mind this is a university that consistently backed (allegedly) crooked Sean Miller for years, payments to players etc and likely faces a significant punishment. (would Pope want to go to that?) Admin and leadership in a university are key if you're going to sign on as the head coach, esp at a high profile program like Arizona. So here is what people are saying about the job the leadership and admin is doing in the search for a coach so far:

"USA TODAY Sports' Dan Wolken blasted the search as "completely incompetent."

Fox Sports Radio's Aaron Torres slammed the school for "the worst administrative incompetence I can ever remember." Torres also said "My stance on Sean Miller has been clear for months. Its insane to stand by a guy for several years, then fire him, in the middle of investigation. Fire him years ago, or after the NCAA gives out penalties. TOTAL incompetence from that athletic department"

West Coast Bias Sports' C.J. O'Neill criticized the search's "incompetence and futility."

WildcatAuthority.com's Jason Scheer slammed the university for not having a plan when it fired Miller.

Former Arizona standout Richard Jefferson isn't a fan of the way Arizona is looking for a coach, either. On an Instagram live earlier this week, he said: "No, I will not throw my hat into the Arizona coaching search," Jefferson said in response to a question. "That's already a debacle."

I like Pope a lot and hope he doesnt leave but I'd really be disappointed if he left for Arizona - dirty program, bad leadership, alumni base that thinks it needs to be consulted on decisions, etc, etc.
